CH.715 Completing Duelist Alliance
… so today is a break day from working on time travel and the Hero’s sword. And to relax, I’m opening packs.
Well, specifically I’m actually going to be completing a set. Duelist Alliance.
And you should know how this goes. I’ll open 200 packs speedrun style, recap the new cards I get from that, and then set up Different Dimension Capsules to get the rest.

Okay. 18 new cards.
Let’s start with the one Vanilla we have.
Dragon Horn Hunter is fine. 200 attack boost is almost nothing, and the no battle damage is pretty meaningless as well. But she has decent stats and looks nice, so I might use her.
Next … Yang Zings. Chiwen, Light of the Yang Zing specials from the deck when it is destroyed, like basically all Yang Zings do. But the individual effect of returning from the GY when a Yang Zing is destroyed is … okay-ish.
Bixi, Water of the Yang Zing has the Yang Zing special from the deck effect, it allows for a Synchro during the opponent’s turn and if you synchro summon using it as a material, the Synchro is unaffected by traps. So pretty decent.
Suanni, Fire of the Yang Zing has the same effects as Bixi, except that Synchro monster that used this card as a Synchro material gains 500 attack and defense.
Baxia, Brightness of the Yang Zing is nice. The return to hand effect is nice, and the ‘destroy 1 to resurrect 1’ triggers your Yang Zing special from the deck effects, so it works well with the archetype.
Yang Zing Creation gives you an additional special from the deck each turn. Well, situationally.

Next … the two Performapals and Odd-Eyes.
Performapal Turn Toad is bad. Switching attack and defense isn’t that good. Neither is battle position switching.
Performapal Whip Snake is the same. But at least it has 1700 attack.
Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon on the other hand is nice. Reduce battle damage to 0. Search for a Pendulum monster. And doubled battle damage. All good effects.

Let’s move to Shaddolls.
Shaddoll Core is a decent Trap monster, since it can be any attribute for a fusion summon.
Sinister Shadow Games on the other hand allows for the activation of Flip effects. Which can be alright with some field setups, but most of the time, you won’t need it.
Now since that was just two cards, let’s go over two more before the images.
Satellarknight Alsahm just burns for 1000 when summoned.
And Stellarnova Alpha is a counter trap that can negate Spells, Traps and monster effects. But you have to tribute a tellarknight for it. Still not a bad card, but I have better.

Now the last five that are just random parts of some archetypes, or that don’t belong to an archetype.
Doomstar Magician destroys Pendulum scales. Which I’ll never need.
Saffira, Queen of Dragons has three great options, but sadly it doesn't have any protection.
Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer is great since it can shuffle stuff into the deck, but that effect is basically useless for me.
Magical Spring is a hyper situational draw card.
And The Traveler and the Burning Abyss is a mass resurrection for Burning Abyss monsters that were sent to the GY this turn.

Now, let’s see what I didn’t get.

And I was missing 8.
Felis, Lightsworn Archer is fine, but she is just a Lightsworn.
Raiza the Mega Monarch is fine. As a monster, he is good. But I’ve said many times, the Monarchs know some really cool spells. So having more of them is always good for magic research.
El Shaddoll Winda is good for TCG use, but not that much for me. Limiting summons still limits me the most.
El Shaddoll Construct on the other hand is busted. Sure the effect works only on ‘special summoned’ monsters, but dungeon monsters and fissure monsters count as being special summoned, so Construct is nice in those situations.
Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth doesn’t actually reborn itself. It just lets you Monster Reborn when it is destroyed.
Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss mills, gains attack, chances its own battle position and does GY recovery. It is a great tool for Burning Abyss, but not something I really need.
Yang Zing Path is a Yang Zing limited version of Pot of Avarice. Good for a deck that does a bunch of special summoning from the deck.
And Time-Space Trap Hole is too situational for me, but decent for TCG use.

“... okay. But wasn’t your plan fighting Janina in her humanoid form?” I agreed, but also had to know why.
“It was, but I got a mission. They want to launch Manamorphic Body after the match, and I need to show it off. I can’t show it if I’m fighting Janina. She is too strong.”
“That I am.” Our scale copy said. “Even in my more limited form, if I took the fight seriously, it would quickly end.”
“I’d have to go all out from the start. Not play around with a prototype skill that only helps a bit in some situations.” Unika noted.
“And I can’t use the Manamorphic Body.” Janina added. “I might be able to emulate it, but I haven’t practiced doing so, and as such, we decided you should fight her instead. It is your skill after all. You know it the best.”
“Alright. I’m game. We have three more days, right? So a bit of practice? We can have basically a synchronized fight to show off the skill before we get serious. Because I also have a little technique I want to show you.” I teased.
“Yes.” Unika agreed. “We can train a bit tomorrow. And don’t think you are the only one with a secret technique.”
“Oh I know yours.” I told her. “You can’t practice on HomeBase or in the Factory and expect me not to know. Especially now that the Factory can stream what you are seeing and experiencing. Fantasia can’t stop gushing about things you do.”
“... That’s not fair!” Unika called out.
“Go beg Fantasia for info about mine. You know she’ll tell you all about it if you transform into Stella and let her ride you.”
“... I don’t like how she pulls at my fur.”
“Better overcome it or face the surprise.” I told her. “And do you really think our children won’t pull your hair or fur?”
“... don’t remind me. I’m not ready to be a mom.” Unika said.
“I am.” Lua cut in.
“We know.” Alice, Cailie, Unika and I said at the same time.
“But you don’t do anything about it, Brian.” She teased.
“Kind of dealing with bigger issues than a kid.” I reminded her. “After I’m done with the Hero’s sword, I promise I’ll get you pregnant."
“And I’ll hold you to it.”
“You and your need to have the first kid.” I joked.
“You should know we need to keep the future safe. And in all of my dreams, I’m the only one pregnant. So if I’m not first, we’ll break the future.”
“... that isn’t how it works. Prophecies and Foresight aren’t absolute.” I reminded her.
