Chapter 292: Kael’s First Love
CHAPTER 292: CHAPTER 292: KAEL’S FIRST LOVE
Her natural charm attracted a lot of attention, while her cheerful, bright blue eyes were hidden behind her glasses, which looked mesmerizing to the point that he was tempted to confess his feelings.
There were too many admirable points about her that made him attracted. Like...
She was one of the best debaters on the team, and her communication skills were on par with those of a professional motivational speaker.
She was called the scholarly beauty because she wasn’t just beautiful... she was smart too.
Though the reason he loved her was entirely different, he couldn’t help but want to get close to her.
However, the problem lay in the wall between them.
He was from a completely different department, and because of his aloof and cool persona, he was never able to approach her.
Around him were far too many girls... clingy, jealous girls... who would definitely start bullying his first love if he dared to show even the slightest affection toward her.
’If they ever find out I like her, they’ll make her life miserable,’ he thought grimly.
He knew and trusted his own abilities of being able to protect her, but he also knew that his first love would be disgusted by the fact that so many women were targeting her just because someone liked her.
Kael understood her personality far too well.
His gaze softened as he watched her walk slowly toward the window.
In that instant, Kael clenched his fists, his heart pounding.
’Maybe... maybe she already knows? Maybe she’ll say something... anything.’
But instead of turning toward him, she stood by the window, took out a folded letter, and slipped it behind a loose wooden panel.
Kael’s heartbeat grew louder, echoing in his chest.
’Is it a love letter? Did she know about my presence all along? What a dumb question! She so clever she must have noticed my love for her!’
He waited until she walked away before immediately leaving his hiding place. Quietly, he approached the window and pulled out the letter.
The moment he unfolded it, his expression froze. Inside was a written aspiration.
"In the next five years, I want to become the assistant to the CEO of a multinational company."
Kael stared at the letter, stunned. He remembered how she had once mentioned her belief in a strange documentary... a superstition that said if someone wrote their aspirations on paper and hid them somewhere, that wish would come true after five or ten years, or even decades later.
’So she really believes in that...’ he thought, staring at the neat handwriting before carefully pocketing the letter.
But internally, he was disappointed that she didn’t even know about his crush...
’You are so stupid, Kael! What were you even dreaming about?’
He sighed and turned around to leave the classroom. As he stepped into the corridor, he spotted Ember standing with her best friend.
The moment Kael saw his sister, he gave a brief nod and was about to walk away, but Ember stopped him.
"Eldest brother! There’s something I need to tell you," she said excitedly. "There’s a girl claiming to be our lost little sister. Mom and Dad are almost ninety-nine percent sure she’s really her."
Kael’s eyes lit up slightly. "If that’s true, we should meet her soon."
Ember nodded and turned to her best friend, Stacy. "You should go now. I’ll meet you after class."
Stacy chuckled. "I’m really curious to see this long-lost sister of yours. I wonder if she’s prettier than you or just like you. If she is, maybe I’ll introduce her to my brother since you rejected him."
Ember laughed. "If I really have a younger sister, I’ll make sure she never meets your brother."
Stacy rolled her eyes. "Oh, come on! If your sister marries my brother, we’ll become in-laws, and then I can roam around your family’s house with all the authority I want. We can even spend more time together!"
Ember shook her head, laughing. "Get lost! Who would want to trade a good sister for a brain sucking friend!"
After a few minutes of chatter, Stacy finally left. Kael and Ember began walking toward the exit.
Just as they were about to leave, a beautiful woman with soft, baby-brown hair and bright blue eyes walked toward them. She adjusted her glasses and smiled gently.
"Ember, I came to say goodbye," she said warmly.
Ember’s face lit up. "Senior! You’re still as beautiful as ever. If you ever need help in the future, just call me, okay?"
The senior chuckled. "Then maybe you can get me a job in your family’s company someday."
Amber laughed. "If my family really owned a company, I’d hire you in a heartbeat, Senior."
The senior laughed again, then turned toward Kael... only to find him frozen, staring at her as if time itself had stopped.
However, from the outsider’s perspective, he seemed cold and uninterested in socializing with the senior.
A soft smile crossed the senior’s lips before she leaned closer to Amber and whispered,
"Your brother still looks as frightening as ever. Dear me, he must really hate me."
Ember waved her hand dismissively, hiding a sigh.
’My poor brother. He’s created such a cold impression that his first love actually thinks he hates her.’
Shaking her head, Ember gave a weak smile. "Senior, my brother’s just a little stupid sometimes. There’s actually something I wanted to tell you about him..."
Before she could finish, Kael’s cold voice cut her off. "We should leave. Now."
Ember sighed helplessly. ’This block of ice is destined to stay single forever. Is he really that embarrassed that I was about to tell her he likes her?’
The senior, misreading the situation completely, smiled politely and said, "Then I’ll take my leave. Goodbye."
As she walked away, Kael stood silently, his expression unreadable... but inside, his heart ached.
"Serves you right!" Ember murmured as she saw her brother watch the senior’s back longingly. "Why are you so scared? At most she would reject you!"
