The woman who had insulted Arthur laughed and said,

"Not only can I insult you, but I can also insult your delusional family, too! Do you really think we don’t know the truth? Ivy isn’t the type to push away her poor fiancé just because she got a rich one. She has worked from the very start of this base. I personally saw how Ivy worked herself to exhaustion... building this base and making it a safe haven for everyone! Instead of helping her get to higher levels and making sure this base continues to be a safe haven, people like Arthur are constantly trying to pull her down! Does he have no shame?"

Others joined in and pointed at Marcus, shouting,

"If you dare to look down on Ivy or slander her again, we will beat you and kill you! After all, in this apocalypse, killing isn’t a big deal!"

Some even maliciously sized him up, causing Marcus’s soul to tremble in fear. He never realized Ivy had such an impact on the entire base.

If he had known, maybe he would never have thought of slandering her in the first place.

Taking a deep breath, he looked at everyone and said, "I accept my mistake."

However, before he could even finish, Martha motioned to her bodyguards.

The next second, all those superpowered guards immediately picked up Marcus, Angelina, Kate, and Arthur from their places.

Seeing the Evans family being lifted as if they were sacks, others almost wanted to laugh.

Martha calmly said, "It’s time to throw these trashes out since they have accepted their mistake. If they continue to stay in this base, they will only dirty the environment."

Everyone understood Martha’s words. She was clearly hinting that whoever thought of going against Ivy or slandering her would meet the same fate.

Some people couldn’t help but laugh, while others nodded along.

In fact, the speech at the hospital given by Ember was extremely motivating and had opened many citizens’ eyes.

Marcus was furious and pointed at Martha, shouting,

"A woman like you is destined to stay single! You’re too independent and opinionated... no man would like you!"

However, before he could finish, someone from the line threw a stone directly at Marcus. Others in the line found it amusing and joined in.

Martha noticed some of their faces and calmly walked away.

Even though she pretended that Marcus’s words didn’t affect her, a part of her did feel something.

The reality was that Martha didn’t want to admit it, but she had heard these statements countless times in her life... ’too opinionated, too independent, destined to stay single.’

It wasn’t that Martha chose to be single; it was that those words often discouraged her. It wasn’t insecurity but more of an identity she had grown used to wearing.

She knew others felt offended by her strong, independent personality, but she didn’t care.

She loved who she was, and she was not going to change for anyone.

But to say the words didn’t sting would be a lie. They did sting many times, and she often questioned herself.

’Is that why Kael and I couldn’t get together? Did he also think I was too opinionated or too independent?’

The moment that thought crossed her mind, she shook her head and muttered, "It’s all right. I’m not changing my personality for any man." With that, she continued her work.

Meanwhile, Marcus glared at Martha and clenched his fist, muttering,

"Women like this deserve to be assaulted." The next second, he felt a harsh slap across his face.

He heard his own daughter’s cold voice: "You’re a beast. A beast like you can’t be my father."

Angelina glared at Marcus. She had her bottom line, and she hated men like her father the most.

Marcus never imagined that his daughter would slap him one day, and he was filled with fury. He pointed at her, shouting, "How dare you slap me!"

Angelina looked at him with cold eyes and said, "Whenever you think of disrespecting women like this, I will dare to slap you."

Hearing those words, Marcus lifted his hand in anger. Angelina chuckled and said,

"Go ahead and slap me. I will leave this group and find my own place in other groups."

In an instant, Marcus froze, and so did Arthur and Kate.

They could see the seriousness in Angelina’s eyes.

For the first time, they realized that Angelina had transformed greatly since the arrival of the apocalypse.

The Angelina standing in front of them was cold and indifferent. For a moment, Kate couldn’t even recognize her own daughter, and Marcus trembled in fury.

Arthur immediately tried to smooth things over and said,

"Why are you taking Dad’s words so seriously? He was just saying nonsense."

He knew that although their group looked unbiased on the surface, in reality, Kate favored him, Marcus favored him, and his success depended heavily on his sister, who had awakened a strong superpower.

Whether he could seize the crown of the apocalypse and become its ruler depended entirely on Angelina. How could he allow her to become upset and leave the group?

Hence, he immediately started flattering her, saying,

"I realize it was my mistake. I shouldn’t have arrogantly bullied Ivy in the past. Maybe that’s why she hates us so much that she kicked us out of the base."
