Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower
Chapter 348: Suspicious
CHAPTER 348: CHAPTER 348: SUSPICIOUS
’She’s attractive, but not my type,’ he thought.
The moment he thought about type, he was reminded of a sun-kissed woman with short hair and a slightly muscular body.
She was exactly his type. Whether it was about looks or her straightforward personality.
’I wonder where she might be now... does she miss me? Hey! Stop thinking about her! She doesn’t like you!’
After entering the lounge, he saw a man wearing glasses who looked very old-fashioned.
His hair was parted neatly to one side and somehow looked shiny even without sunlight.
Felix couldn’t help but look at the man in mild amusement.
’Why does this man make me feel as if he is some kind of robot?’
The man, on the other hand, gave Felix a faint but bored glance before walking away.
Felix narrowed his eyes at the retreating figure and tapped his finger. Suddenly, he called out, "Wait!"
The man paused and looked at Felix with that same bored gaze.
Even the way he maintained his expression seemed robotic.
Felix asked in a curious voice,
"You work here?"
Scott nodded. Felix chuckled, seeing his robotic answer, "What is your name?"
The man calmly replied, "Who are you, and why are you interested in knowing everything?"
It was the first time that the robot seemed to be out of its program.
Felix paused before answering.
"Well, this is the information department. Of course, I need to keep information on others."
His lame joke earned him no amusement. Instead, Scott gave him a disdainful look and said,
"We’re here to work. Don’t waste time."
Felix nodded. "Got it. I’ll take care of it."
Then he paused, stepped closer, and asked curiously,
"Your steps are very measured. You walk like a soldier, not a regular employee. Were you in the military?"
Scott raised an eyebrow, then nodded.
"I was a soldier. But because of an internal injury and my wife’s fear, I had to stop and step back."
Felix nodded, and before he could ask more, he felt a tap on his shoulder.
Turning around, he saw a woman named Sherry.
True to her name, she had beautiful red hair tied in a bun, and she looked at Felix with a love-struck gaze.
"Do you need any help? I’m the newbie trainer assigned to you," she said sweetly.
Felix paused, stared at her with interest, and replied,
"I do need help." He turned back to point at Scott... but Scott had already disappeared long ago.
Felix clicked his tongue, then turned to Sherry. "Any more amusing characters like the man just now?"
Sherry blinked, then her eyes widened. "You mean Scott?"
When Felix nodded, Sherry rolled her eyes.
"There are very few people like him. Scott’s very boring. And honestly, he’s a total simp for Zelda. People have seen how sometimes he leaves and enters the restroom... and Zelda enters right after. Everyone in the department knows he’s obsessed with her."
Felix nodded and flashed her a charming smile.
"If that’s the case, then behind whom are you?"
Sherry laughed as if he’d told a joke. "I’m behind you. Can’t you tell?"
Felix laughed too. "That won’t be possible. I already like someone."
Sherry pouted. Just as she was about to speak again, an authoritative voice boomed from the other end.
"What’s going on there?"
Sherry turned around and stuck out her tongue playfully, looking toward her uncle with an apologetic grin. "I’m just showing the newbie around!"
Her uncle, at least six feet tall, strong build, and with short brown hair, looked displeased.
"Maintain distance from other boys," he said sternly.
Felix looked at the stiff posture and cold expression and asked casually, "Bro?"
The man growled, "Stay away from Sherry. She’s not someone you can date."
Felix laughed.
"If I didn’t know better, I’d think you’re trying to push her toward me with how repetitive your words are."
Sherry laughed while her uncle stared at Felix and asked,
"Is this how a junior talks to his superior?"
Felix grinned. "If I didn’t know better, I’d think I’m offending an emperor."
He waved his hand and looked at the man’s ID card, which clearly displayed the name Simon.
Felix smirked. "Just because your name is Simon doesn’t mean we’ll do everything just because Simon says."
With that joke, he walked away.
Sherry watched his back like she was love-struck. Meanwhile, Scott, from afar, observed Felix with narrowed eyes.
Felix absorbed everything he could and waited until nightfall before leaving his office.
After returning home, he saw Ivy waiting for his report.
Once he arrived, Felix looked at her, reported the entire incident to her word-for-word, and said,
"I have met most of the employees; one thing was clear... something was off about the pair named Scott and Zelda."
Ivy nodded and asked in a curious voice, "Is there anything else that you found suspicious?"
Her question made Felix pause before he added, "A girl kept trying to flirt with me."
Ivy rolled her eyes.
"You don’t need to talk about your so-called masculinity and how women are drawn to you."
But Felix shook his head with a grim expression.
"She wasn’t actually in love with me. You could see it in her eyes. She tried hard to act cheerful, but she had no romantic interest in me. Yet she and her uncle kept trying to push the matter. Maybe they knew my real identity and wanted Sherry to get close to me."
Ivy nodded slowly. It was indeed a strong possibility.
However...
"This Sherry and her uncle seem suspicious. Anyhow, are there any other people that you find suspicious?" Ivy asked, and Felix shook his head.
"Honestly... no. The information department only has 12 employees. Scott, Zelda, Cherry, Simon, and the rest... all of them looked normal. Too normal, actually," Felix said, tapping his finger on the table thoughtfully.
Ivy narrowed her eyes. "Normal in an apocalypse is more suspicious than being strange."
Felix chuckled.
"That’s exactly what I thought. Except for Scott and Zelda, everyone else behaves like they’re stuck in an office drama rather than the end of the world. Gossip, petty politics, favoritism... it’s almost like they’re pretending nothing has changed."
