CHAPTER 69: CHAPTER 69: GODDESS

It was only after he repeated his sentence a few times did Ivy came out of her stupor, yet she didn’t pull away and instead buried her face in his chest.

"You promised. You can’t go back on your words."

Silas’s heart was filled with joy. He could feel Ivy’s dependency on him. It was as if... nothing mattered to her other than him.

Henry, who watched everything from the driver’s seat, was speechless. His heart suddenly ached, and he wanted to meet his girlfriend and kiss her, too.

This wave of PDA made him feel like a lonely old man. Fuming, he looked away and focused his attention on the environment.

By now, he understood he wasn’t in hell. His curiosity got the better of him, and he left the car to explore the area.

Meanwhile, Ivy had fallen unconscious after hearing Silas’s promise, and her tense nerves relaxed.

Silas didn’t move and let Ivy sleep peacefully. If she wanted, he was ready to die just by holding her like this.

Maybe... Ivy has started to like him, too. The mere thought thrilled, to the point he couldn’t be bothered about his surroundings.

Suddenly...

Clack. Clack.

Something dropped on Silas’s forehead, and his body instinctively protected Ivy.

Clack. Clack.

Silas surveyed his surroundings and, to his astonishment, packets and packets of salt started to fall inside the car.

An even more insane event ensued, outside the car, packets of salt started to fall from the sky.

"What the heck?" Silas frowned.

"Captain! Captain!" Henry, who hardly roamed around, noticed the food rain too. "What is happening? Have we entered some kind of food dimension?"

Silas was puzzled by the bizarre incident, too, and ordered, "Collect all the salt and place it on one side."

"Alright!" Henry delightedly started to move the salt packets to one side. Just the varieties of salt were enough to make him marvel at the unknown force.

At first, Henry was leisurely moving the salt packets, thinking the rain of salt packets would stop soon.

But his theory proved wrong, when even after an hour the salt packets continued to rain, by now his back was on fire, and he cast a pitiful glance in Silas’s direction, who had joined Henry, too.

"You can rest." Silas couldn’t bear the burning gaze and continued to move the salt packets. What he couldn’t understand was... where the salt packets were coming from.

Another hour passed, and now Silas was worried. If the salt packet rain continued, there would be no space left to store it.

By now, four small mountains have been built purely with salt packets. Just then, Ivy, who was unconscious, stirred and opened her eyes.

The packets suddenly looked as if they were glitching, and with a flickering light, vanished completely.

This entire scene was noted by Henry, who stared at Ivy with a gleam in his eyes.

Silas noticed the strange scene too, and heaved a sigh of relief. And looked in the car’s direction. Seeing Ivy awake, he asked softly,

"How are you now?"

Ivy held her head and looked around with confusion in her gaze. Seeing the small mountains of salt packets, she became fully awake.

How can she not? The outer packets of these salt packers seemed very familiar with the one she had once picked; the only difference was that the salt packets in front of her were 10 times the amount she had picked on her own.

Sensing her gaze, Silas explained everything and surmised, "Before reaching any conclusion, it would be better to know about the place itself."

Ivy gulped, and she had an epiphany. Maybe... maybe she had lost control of her superpower, which resulted in this bizarre rain.

"It is indeed strange." Ivy pretended to be equally confused and said, "This is my space. Maybe... there was some kind of malfunction."

Her explanation was barely passable, and Henry contradicted her, "You must know the reason. I observed how those packets stopped flowing when you woke up."

The atmosphere suddenly turned stagnant.

Ivy’s heart skipped a beat. An impulse took over her, and she wanted to kill Henry right away.

Her superpower was way too precious. In her last life, when others got to know that she could protect them from zombies, they held her captive for almost 4 years.

Tortured her, used her, and even hunted her after her escape.

Compared to her Safe Zone superpower, her Supplies picking superpower was even more valuable.

If any outsider comes to know about it... even in this life, she would die a miserable death.

So... the less people knew about the existence of her superpower, the better it would be.

Before Ivy could give any explanation, Silas calmly said, "Anyways, it’s getting late, we should leave now."

Seeing him brushing away the matter, Henry pursed his lips and decided not to continue investigating.

He didn’t know that this decision of his saved his life.

Ivy felt a weight lifting from her heart, and at the same time, she felt grateful toward Silas.

Compared to others, she was ready to tell the secret about her superpower to him, but never once did he ask it on his own accord.

Ivy waved her hand, and the next second, all of them arrived at the location they had vanished.

The traffic had vanished by now, and Henry was stunned. He then stared at Ivy, and just when Ivy thought he would ask questions, he bowed,

"Ivy, if any of my words ever hurt you, I apologize. And thank you for saving my life."

Henry knew in his heart that he was never kind to Ivy at all. He acted like a bitter old man and kept on taunting her.

But in the times of danger, she didn’t leave him and saved him too. From his perspective, Ivy and his relationship weren’t good.

Even if she left him to die, he won’t complain.

But the kind Ivy saved him. Not to mention, she was a salt goddess too!
