CHAPTER 74: CHAPTER 74: BLISTER PACKS

The ground was glitching; some packets were appearing and then vanishing. What was even more shocking was... Ivy could see a different item, too.

Did she break through? Or this time she was going to get mixed food items?

Suddenly her eyes fell on the timer, which seemed to be still running, and it felt as if someone had poured cold water on her.

"Damn it! Can’t you see they are disappearing and then reappearing? How the heck will I be able to pick it up?

No response.

Oh! She forget! She needs to deal with every situation on her own.

With no other choice, Ivy bent down and tried to pick up the glitching items. At first, nothing happened; however, Ivy persisted. As a result, she finally picked up the blister packs.

On closer look, it looked like tablets. However, Ivy didn’t have the time to see the details. Instead, she continued to pick, since her timer was running out.

After 14 minutes, the ground flashed one last time before blister packs disappeared. Exhaustion filled every fibre of her being. She panted a little, her heels aching and having slight blisters as well as some injuries.

It was only then did Ivy realized that she wasn’t wearing any footwear at all. Feeling disgusted, she entered the temporal storage. The soft grass under her feet relaxed the tension in her body, as she entered the bathroom and washed her feet with soap.

Looking at the pitiful soap, Ivy was worried. Daily essential items like sanitizers, soap, shampoo, toiletries, etc., will become extinct after a decade... if only she could hoard them.

An insane idea appeared in her mind. What if her superpower could let her pick up those, too? Ah! That would be amazing!

After cleaning up, Ivy went to check the items she had gotten this time. To her surprise, the supplies she had picked this time weren’t food... it was medicine

Yup! A whole bunch of them! She checked the medicine name and was surprised. Fluoroquinolones.

She knew this medicine. It was mainly used to treat respiratory infections, skin infections, and soft tissue infections.

But the main usage was... it could be used to treat typhoid fever!

Heaven has truly heard her this time! She finally got medicines. She started to examine other medicines, wondering if she had gotten improved formulations of these medicines, but to her surprise, this time there was no variety at all.

Usually, even if she got rice, she could get various rice breeds. But this time? She only got fluoroquinolones blister packs.

Her eyes flashed, and she thought about the glitching and surmised,

"Maybe... at my level, I wasn’t supposed to get medicine at all. But I eventually did... so this time there was no variety."

Though the explanation seemed far-fetched, Ivy couldn’t think of any other possibility. She exited the temporal storage wearing the makeshift footwear and embarked on the journey back to the military.

Thinking about the long and arduous journey ahead, Ivy wanted to curse again. However, she held it in and used her memory to trace the path she had taken to reach this forest.

From Ivy’s guess, it was 4 o’clock in the afternoon, and soon the sun would set. The beautiful emerald lush forest paired with the slight cool breeze might have mesmerized any individuals.

But the sight of grotesque humans with one hand missing was hard to ignore. The occasional cacophony of growls released by them further intensified the eeriness that blanketed the scene like an unseen fog.

To Ivy, it was nothing. Her superpower allowed her to roam freely anywhere. As she was passing by the zombies, one of the zombies suddenly rushed in her direction.

Though unguarded, Ivy’s sharp sense and instincts helped her to hear the slight disturbance in the foot pattern around, and she dodged the incoming attack with ease.

The mutilated creature with greenish hue, sunken eyes, whipped his head in Ivy’s direction. The mere aggressiveness in his eyes was enough to scare average Joe.

However, Ivy was long used to zombies and their grotesque appearance, raised an eyebrow, and even commented while whistling.

"Eh? An evolved one? Hm. I was itching to vent my pent-up frustration. Thanks for your patronage."

With a gleam in her eyes, she lifted her leg and kicked the zombie’s head hard, making the horrendous creature let out a low, sharp growl, as his body landed on the ground with a ’thud.’

If his consciousness was still intact, it might have sensed the dangerous aura around Ivy, but it seemed to have lost rationale and hence continued with its assault.

One second, he was still lying on the ground; the next second, he appeared in front of Ivy and lunged at her.

The second Ivy’s clenched fist crashed into the zombie’s face. Just like that, the zombie was decapitated.

Ivy walked up to the head and punched it hard, and took out the crystal from scrutinizing it. The crystal was of diamond shape with pointed edges, and it was achromic.

"A space crystal? Hm. Great."

[Would you like to store space crystals?]

"Eh? So polite. This must be a treat for you, huh? Why do you want it?" Ivy asked, curiosity dripping from her words.

No response.

Ivy was long accustomed to the silence after her every question. Yet she fired her next question,

"Can you upgrade yourself with it?"

[Do you want to upgrade? The cost is 1000kb and 10 space crystals.]

It took Ivy some time to digest the sentence thrown by the storage before she felt a pinch in her heart.

1000kb? Just why doesn’t this storage rob a bank? Oh, it would have, but... it doesn’t have any legs or hands.

Cracking a dark joke, and knowing the storage couldn’t beat her up for it, Ivy felt a strange kind of twisted satisfaction in her heart.

But she also realized that the conditions to upgrade going forward might require unexpected items... like crystals.

The sound of an approaching car engine echoed in Ivy’s ears.
