Zombie Apocalypse: Reborn With A Farming Space
Chapter 525: Angry Brother
CHAPTER 525: ANGRY BROTHER
"But without weapons, what should we do for tomorrow’s mission?" the woman sobbed when she heard her boyfriend’s words.
"We will manage. Don’t worry," the man replied as he patted the woman’s back gently.
Both of them knew how dangerous the outside was after the zombie horde. Without weapons, their risk of dying during missions would increase by more than half. But right now, they had no other choices.
Du Beiye hesitated for a moment before she took out a spear and a soft sword from her warehouse. Walking over to them, she said, "Thanks to both of you, I can sell all of my goods tonight. These are for both of you as thank-you gifts."
The couple was stunned when they saw the weapons. Before they could reject them, Du Beiye shoved the weapons into their arms and left without looking back.
For her, these weapons were junk. But for these people, the weapons were their life-saving talismans. So, giving two away was nothing for her.
Tonight, she earned enough crystal cores to increase twenty-three percent of her system’s energy. With a total of forty-four point seven percent energy now, she was able to access the second level of her warehouse and unlocked another inventory bag.
While she was walking back to her home, she quickly filled the second inventory bag with medicines, venoms, B-grade weapons, battle suits, and serums to boost battle power.
When the red moon rose high in the sky, people returned to their homes and the street was deserted. Besides the guards who patrolled the base, some of the members of the Phantom Team were also patrolling the street.
At this moment, Pei Yixie was strolling near the North Wall entrance when she saw a tall, handsome man staring at her with narrowed eyes. The moment she saw his silver-colored hair, she turned around and ran as fast as she could.
Seeing his sister run away as if she were being chased by a debt collector, Pei Yijun gritted his teeth and shouted, "Pei Yixie, stop right there!"
Hearing her brother’s angry roar, Pei Yixie shivered and replied without looking back, "Only a fool would listen to you!"
As soon as the words left her lips, she bent her knees and leaped onto the rooftop. Without taking a break, she jumped from one rooftop to another, trying to shake off her furious brother.
When Pei Yijun reacted, she was already fifty meters away. Clenching his jaw, he sped up and continued to chase after her.
Fifteen minutes later, he stood at the top of a building and stared at the figure that was getting farther away. Noticing how fast his sister was, he was taken aback.
He was a level-two Ability-User now, but he was unable to catch her. Based on their speeds, there were only two possibilities. One was that his sister’s level was above his. Another possibility was that she had awakened a speed-type ability.
It only had been more than three months since the apocalypse. Even if his sister was able to speed up her breakthrough by absorbing crystal cores, at most, she could only reach level two like him. So, he believed that his sister was a speed-type Ability-User.
Pei Yijun took a deep breath and let out a long sigh to calm down before he muttered with a frown, "Yixie, why don’t you want to go home?"
While Pei Yijun returned to the inn, Pei Yixie also reached her apartment building. Patting her chest, she let out a sigh of relief and muttered, "Fortunately, he didn’t continue to chase after me."
"Who chased after you?"
Hearing the familiar voice echo in her mind, Pei Yixie was startled. Turning around, she saw Fu Guai leaning on the wall. Half of his face was hidden in the shadow, making it hard for her to guess his expression.
Not receiving any reply, he walked over and leaned down. Narrowing his eyes, he stared at her and asked again, "Who chased after you? Did you get yourself into trouble again?"
Feeling his warm breath brushing her face and smelling his unique scent, Pei Yixie’s heart skipped a beat. Taking two steps back, she distanced herself from him before she said, "No one is chasing after me, and I’m not in trouble."
Fu Guai frowned when he noticed her attempt to get away from him. He was unhappy, so he took a large step and closed the distance.
Before she could take a step back, he grabbed her wrist and asked, "Pei Yixie, did I do something that annoyed you or made you angry?"
Hearing his thoughts, Pei Yixie was surprised. She met his gaze and shook her head. "I’m not angry with you."
"Then why are you distancing yourself from me?" he asked.
This time, Pei Yixie was too embarrassed to tell him that she couldn’t face him if they were too close.
With that handsome face and ambiguous words, which girl wouldn’t be moved? She was not a nun, and her girlish heart still yearned for a sweet romance, ah!
"Why aren’t you saying anything?" Fu Guai pressed.
With his face only an inch away from her, Pei Yixie felt her heart might explode the next moment. So, she pushed him away and said, "I can’t think clearly if you are too close."
The moment he heard this, Fu Guai was stunned. He didn’t know why, but after hearing her words, his irritation at not seeing her at home was reduced by half. Turns out, she was not indifferent toward him.
As this thought flashed in his mind, the corner of his lips lifted. Since she was uncomfortable, he reluctantly took a step back but did not release her wrist.
Staring at her reddened cheeks, he asked, "Are you really not in trouble? If someone is bothering you, you can tell me. I will help you solve it."
Pei Yixie glanced at his thumb caressing her wrist. She didn’t know if he was intentional or not, but the place where he was rubbing was so hot, and her pulse under his thumb was beating wildly.
