CHAPTER 1008: CHAPTER 1005: PATERNITY TEST (PART 1)
"Don’t worry, Aunt Wang. This Yin Yang Life Elixir is a top-grade pill, and one is enough. The elixir taken by Mr. Yun can’t be fully absorbed at once; the medicinal power settles in the body. As long as I regularly perform acupuncture for Mr. Yun over these few days, it will bring out the full effect of the medicine," Lin Tian gave Wang Wanxi a reassuring look and said.
"Then I’m relieved," Wang Wanxi sighed with relief.
"Brother Lin, thank you," Yun Xiaotian said gratefully.
Lin Tian patted his shoulder and smiled, "What are you thanking me for? This is something I promised you, and besides, I can’t just stand by and watch Mr. Yun in distress without helping, can I?"
Seeing the good relationship between the two, Wang Wanxi couldn’t help but smile.
As they talked, Mr. Yun came out after changing clothes, looking vibrant, as if he had become several years younger.
"Yun Hongxi, seeing your vitality, it seems the weight in your heart has finally been lifted. Xiaotian found Lin Tian, and Lin Tian is treating your injuries. It seems this is destiny," Jiang Xiu Ying said with a cheerful smile.
"Yes, I feel unprecedentedly relaxed, and now, I have only one wish in my heart. If this wish can be fulfilled, my life will be considered complete," Yun Hongxi said with both joy and emotion.
After Mr. Yun finished speaking, everyone in the living room glanced at Lin Tian intentionally or unintentionally. Lin Tian, with keen spiritual sense, immediately noticed the subtle atmosphere in the room.
If I’m not mistaken, Mr. Yun’s wish is to find Lin Tian and have Yuntian acknowledge his ancestry. Wang Wanxi and the others probably see me as half of Yuntian, Lin Tian understood well, but unfortunately, if the result is not as Mr. Yun wishes, how much of a blow would it be to this old man?
"Alright, don’t just stand there, everyone take a seat. I’ve already had the food delivered," Mr. Yun said with a smile.
With the hope of Mr. Yun’s feet recovering, everyone enjoyed the meal together happily. Lin Tian relished the family atmosphere immensely.
After dinner, night had already fallen outside. Since Mr. Yun needed rest, they left the villa, and Lin Tian returned to Yunxiang Inn alone.
He returned to his bedroom and was about to start cultivating when his phone rang. Lin Tian answered the call.
"Brother Tian, Mo Mingda has disappeared," came Rossi’s respectful voice from the phone.
"Very well, you should stay in Jinghua City for now and secretly protect the Second Miss," Lin Tian said in a calm tone, showing no surprise at Rossi’s news.
He didn’t ask how Mo Mingda disappeared—whether it was an enemy or Rossi himself who dealt with him—because it wasn’t important anymore.
"Understood, Brother Tian," Rossi agreed.
After hanging up the call, Lin Tian continued to cultivate as if nothing had happened.
In the following days, Lin Tian performed acupuncture treatment for Mr. Yun regularly. With each session, Mr. Yun’s legs slowly regained vitality, but since his legs hadn’t been functional for twenty years, full recovery would still require further treatment.
Apart from treating Mr. Yun, Lin Tian spent his free time researching the Nine Needle Technique with Zi Yan, taking the opportunity to tease his senior sister—or rather, being teased by her.
During this period of treating Mr. Yun, Lin Tian gained a deeper understanding of the Nine Needle Technique. The more he learned about it, the more he realized its profoundness, as if there was no end to its exploration.
Of course, besides researching the Nine Needle Technique, Lin Tian didn’t neglect his study of elixir making. However, it was unfortunate that many advanced elixir recipes recorded in the Shennong Emperor’s Medical Scripture couldn’t be practiced due to the lack of herbal ingredients.
On the third day, after Lin Tian and Zi Yan finished studying the Nine Needle Technique and were about to continue their research in elixir making, an unexpected visitor arrived.
The person who walked into Yunxiang Inn was the long-unseen Second Young Master Yun. Since they parted ways at the Famous Doctor Conference, Second Young Master hadn’t appeared. Even though Lin Tian frequently visited the Yun Family, he hadn’t caught sight of Second Young Master Yun, so today’s sudden visit was quite surprising.
"Is Second Young Master Yun here for something?" Lin Tian asked curiously, putting down the book in his hand.
Lin Tian intuitively felt that Second Young Master’s visit wasn’t for Yun Hongxi’s illness because Yun Xiaotian was handling that matter. Therefore, the old master’s sudden visit must be for another important reason.
"Brother Lin, do you remember the last time I took you to meet with Little Tian’s mother?" Second Young Master Yun inquired.
"Of course, I remember," Lin Tian felt a shift in his heart, vaguely guessing what was to come.
"Last time, you both must have talked about Yuntian’s disappearance. Today, I’ve come regarding that matter," Second Young Master Yun said with a very serious expression. It was a rare look for the fiery-tempered old man, who didn’t give Lin Tian much time to think before speaking directly: "To be straightforward, I’m here to seek your opinion on whether you’re willing to undergo a paternity test."
Paternity test! Lin Tian’s heart shook, followed by a mix of emotions. Is what was meant to come, finally here?
This visit to the Yun family in Jinghua City was not solely for treating Yun Hongxi’s injuries. Lin Tian had another task, which was to confirm his lineage—whether he was indeed the Yun Family’s eldest son, Yuntian!
These days of running around had almost made him forget this matter, and now that it was suddenly brought up by Second Young Master Yun, he felt a sense of confusion and complexity. After all, in his heart, his only family was his foster grandfather; his biological parents seemed distant.
"Brother Lin?" Second Young Master Yun called out, seeing Lin Tian lost in thought.
Lin Tian snapped back to reality, pondered for a moment, and asked, "When will the paternity test take place?"
By saying this, it was as good as agreeing to the test. Hearing Lin Tian’s response, a gleam of joy flashed in Second Young Master Yun’s eyes, "As soon as possible. Big brother’s legs are gradually recovering, so we can set the paternity test as a priority."
"Well then, let’s do it now. I assume Second Young Master Yun is already prepared," Lin Tian replied decisively. He wasn’t one to hesitate; since the matter had arisen, avoidance was not his style. Let what is destined to come, come.
Second Young Master Yun felt a swell of joy. He hadn’t expected Lin Tian to agree so quickly when he came to seek his opinion. If Lin Tian hadn’t agreed, the Yun family couldn’t have forced the recognition.
The Yun family didn’t want to ruin their good relationship with Lin Tian because, regardless of the result, maintaining a positive relationship was something the Yun family hoped for, whether Lin Tian was their long-lost eldest son or not.
Suppressing his inner excitement, Second Young Master Yun solemnly said, "Brother Lin, this way please. The paternity test will take place at my brother’s villa."
Lin Tian was slightly surprised. Just moments ago, he had thought they would go to some hospital, but it turned out to be at the Yun family residence, which upon reflection, seemed quite fitting.
The paternity test, revolving around the return of the Yun family’s eldest son, was a monumental event for the Yun family. They wouldn’t want too many people to know until everything was confirmed.
Lin Tian nodded, following Second Young Master Yun as they left Yunxiang Inn, heading towards the forbidden grounds of the Yun family.
The gates of the forbidden area remained closed. Second Young Master Yun entered through a small door, as if everything was normal, but Lin Tian’s spiritual sense told him that the security near the gate was even heavier than during the previous elixir-making session.
