CHAPTER 108: LET’S SPAR
The crystal light cast a shadow over Cadie’s face, his dual-coloured eyes shone ominously through his silver glasses.
He held a scalpel in his hand, hovering over the trembling man who was tied up on the table and bleeding profusely from his severed legs.
"You shouldn’t have stolen from your master...Regretfully, I have to kill you.’’ Cadien said with a tone filled with genuine pity, but the scalpel slicing through the man’s hand said otherwise.
"Argh...master please...I won’t...’’ The man cried out, his voice laced with pain as he felt the scalpel slicing through his veins and bones.
Selina watched wide-eyed, streaming with tears as the man’s hand dangled loosely, blood splashing out, soaking the marble ground.
"Don’t worry and go in peace, your body would remain preserved for eternity,’’ Cadien uttered, his expression serene as if he was doing the man a great favour.
Selina couldn’t understand his words and could only press her mouth tightly to suppress the nausea rising in her throat.
The man on the table had no more strength left and could only moan from the pain as he watched his severed arms and legs be thrown carelessly onto the ground.
Cadien hummed in satisfaction when he finally removed the ugly part, then, without giving the man time to bleed to death, Cadien touched his body.
Instantly, the man’s form solidified, gradually turning silver until his entire body was silvered.
Selina, watching the scene from her hiding spot, vomited into her hands, her eyes rolled back, and she fainted against the pillar.
Cadien simply glanced back at the sound and went on with what he was doing—he was already aware of her presence, but he couldn’t kill her yet, since she was still useful.
"Drag her back to her room and clean this up,’’ Cadien ordered, and a man stepped out from a pillar beside Selina and nodded in response.
Cadien admired the silver statue, which was missing both arms and legs, his lips curling up slightly in satisfaction.
While Selina was dragged away by her leg, her body rubbing harshly against the ground, the man pulling her didn’t care if she bumped into things, unwilling to hold her when he saw the vomit stains on her.
...
The next day, Selina awoke suddenly and sat up quickly on the bed. Her eyes flicked around, and she realised she was back in her room, her heart pounding loud in her chest. ’Who carried me back? Did he know I was there?’ As questions flooded her mind, fear gripped her, already knowing the answer to her question.
The only thing keeping her alive might be the ring wrapped around her finger.
She quickly covered it with her hands, holding it against her chest as relief at still being alive flooded through her. However, the thought of facing him today made her turn paler than before.
"I’m sick." With those words, she hid under the covers, unwilling to step out of the room even if an earthquake were to happen.
She hoped the chaos would end so she could leave faster. ’I miss Marvin and Percy.’ She quickly shook herself awake, having vowed to live better and not dwell on her past husbands.

Meanwhile, Eva turned over in her bed; her dreams were filled with the treasure she had collected, and a giggle escaped her lips as she turned. Minutes passed, and she stirred, blinking as her eyes opened when they met a shadow hovering above her.
"Ahh! Ghost!’’ Eva screamed, sleep clearing from her eyes instantly, and she hurried to the other side of the bed.
"Sister, it’s me." Aaron’s voice caused her to stop in her tracks. She looked back, saw his handsome face, and let out a sigh as she patted her chest.
My heart nearly stopped. What are you doing in my room so early? She paused when she saw the darkness shining through the window, then continued, "Oh, I guess it’s morning."
"I want to see if you are real," Aaron said with a smile as he sat on her bed. Eva’s gaze flicked to his uneasy smile, and her expression cooled slightly before a mischievous smile crossed her lips.
Crawling over to Aaron, she pinched his cheeks. "See, I’m real. But if you scare me like that again, my young heart might stop beating." Eva got out of hand and started making funny faces with his cheeks, laughing at his crooked lips and puffed cheeks.
Aaron sighed helplessly, letting her enjoy her fun, though his heart eased a little—his sister was finally here with them.
"What are we having for breakfast?" Eva asked, letting go of his face as she got out of bed. She stretched and glanced down, feeling thankful she was already dressed and not in the habit of sleeping naked; otherwise, it might have been awkward.
"Next time, knock before entering," she reminded Aaron again.
"Alright," Aaron replied honestly, but Eva, for some reason, couldn’t trust him. Then, suddenly, it clicked in her mind. "No walking through walls either," she added, her face hardening as she saw him hesitate slightly.
"Okay, I promise," Aaron quickly replied when he saw her frown tighten. Ruffling her already tangled hair, he turned to leave through the wall but paused, grasped the doorknob, and opened the door—Julian almost falling face first.
"Morning," he greeted awkwardly with an embarrassed cough, as he had been caught eavesdropping.
Aaron’s eyes narrowed, and the relaxed expression he had around Eva earlier vanished. Eva smiled at Juliana and was about to reply when Aaron pulled Juliana out and closed the door, leaving Eva, who was stunned, behind.
She blinked, scratching her head in confusion at her brother’s strange behaviour. "Maybe they had something urgent to discuss." Shrugging, she disappeared into her space to refresh herself for the day.
Meanwhile, Aaron quickly withdrew his hand from Julian as if he had touched something unclean. Julian raised an eyebrow at his reaction, but remembering that Aaron was his wife’s brother, he restrained himself from losing his temper.
"Let’s spar. I’ve heard rumours about the famous Lord Julian," Aaron asked politely, but inside he yearned to fight Julian, especially considering how he possibly tricked his sister into marrying both of them. Imagining his sister’s small figure being bullied by the two, he clenched his teeth in concealed anger.
"Oh~ Let’s spar, don’t blame me if you injure yourself in the process," Julian said with an equally polite tone, cracking his knuckles with a cold smile forming on his face.
"The same and don’t tell Eva about our fight,’’ Aaron warned, rolling his shoulders to loosen his muscles.
"Hmm.’’ Julian nodded in approval, not about to tell Eva.
While both were engrossed in how to beat the other, Ethan slipped out from the corner, watching their backs go further. Once they were out of sight, he turned and walked towards Eva’s room.
He opened the door to find it empty, and his good mood dampened slightly. However, he didn’t leave and instead lay on her bed.
As her scent drifted into his nose, his eyes became heavy.
He fought to stay awake, but after a poor night’s sleep, he eventually succumbed to sleep.
